MasterIt

This is a collection of tools intended to help advanced language learners self-learn Italian, or use it as a companion to a traditional language course. It's not built for complete beginners -- you'll need to judge for yourself which tools are relevant or useful for your own learning, which takes some experience. Personally, I know Spanish and French fairly well, so I mostly need quick explainers of the theory and lots of exercises to internalize it.

The pre-generated content is completely free. Some tools use live generation features (fully or partially) -- for those you'll need to provide your own API key(s) to OpenRouter (for AI) and/or Cartesia (for audio generation), and pay those services directly to generate content. It's fairly cheap -- e.g. 1 EUR of OpenRouter credit gets you about 40,000 word lookups. For OpenRouter, a default API key is included so you can try it first; it's limited to 0.1 EUR, so if it stops working, that's probably why.

The app works entirely in your browser -- your data stays on that browser/device. If you want to sync progress across devices, you can create an account with just your email. That's the only part of MasterIt that touches a server, and the only reason it costs anything to run -- so this feature might go away if it ever becomes too demanding to keep up.

You can use it from a laptop or a phone -- screens are optimized for both. This is a collection of tools, each with a different focus; scroll down to see the list and explore. Some are partially or fully powered by AI/TTS services, so they'll only work fully once you've added the relevant API key(s).

On iPhone: tap the Share icon in Safari, scroll down, and tap "Add to Home Screen". On Mac: in Safari's menu bar, choose File → Add to Dock (or click the Share icon and choose "Add to Dock").

Used for AI features across MasterIt's tools -- generating texts to practice and quizzes, translating words, and more (currently just ReadIt). Once added, a tool that uses this shows a live cost estimate in its own Settings tab, so you always know roughly what you're spending.

Used for live audio generation, for content that isn't pre-recorded (currently just ReadIt's narration feature).
